Friday January 7th, 2011- According to Saham News, Medhi Karroubi visited the family of Emadeddin Baghi, human rights activist, on the afternoon of Wednesday January 5th, 2011. In this meeting that took place at the Baghi residence, Karroubi expressed regret over the recent arrest of their groom Ali Maghami and said: "The political system should encourage our youth to remain engaged in defining their destiny. This type of action, unfortunately only seeks to weaken hope in society." Karroubi added: "We must of course never give up on our rights and on our hope to achieve sovereignty."
While praising Emadeddin Baghi, Mehdi Karroubi said: "Baghi is a man of faith who has remained true to our social ideals. He has never hesitated to sacrifice for his beliefs and for the reform of our society."
Karroubi concluded: "In the recent years I myself have witnessed the pressures [by the regime] on the Baghi family. I am hopeful that all political prisoners will be freed in the near future and that both Baghi and Maghami can also return to the arms of their families.
